Filing Cabinets Intro

Filing Cabinets and Clutter

Filing Cabinets and Organization
Some businesses have made the move to digital documents and no longer keep files of actual hard copy paperwork in filing cabinets. In fact I think there are some large organizations that have young receptionist who probably couldn't figure out a filing cabinet so save their lives. However some companies still have to keep actual copies of paperwork with signatures or notarized documents that simply can't be digitized yet so they still need filing cabinets to store the volume of paperwork. Until we develop a system to secure signature documents and notarized contracts we will have to maintain some system of storage in filing cabinets.

Filing Cabinets Materials
There are severel options for filing cabinets material and some of it is utilitarian and some of it is asthetic in nature. Filing cabinets that are kept in the front office or reception area are often manufactured from wood products and can vary from a pressboard to oak or maple depending on the budget of the company. Other areas like work shops and such need something sturdier with a nice heavy duty steel filing cabinet that can withstand getting banged and bumped and not lose its function. Perhaps a couple can keep a small inexpensive filing cabinets at home that are made out of inexpensive metal with wood print contact paper to give it slight decorative style or even a plastic filing cabinets are now available at the large retail stores.

Filing Cabinets Styles
Filing Cabinets come in all sorts of styles. Government buildings often have filing cabinets that are really the size of a room and have a motorized system to move the drawers. Other filing cabinets come standard with one to 6 drawers. Most common is the 4 drawer filing cabinets which are found frequently at small businesses. There are also two drawer that may sit at an individual desk or the lateral filing cabinets that can be placed in a walkway and take up less space because of their design. Many desks are designed with almost miniature filing cabinets to store a small number of files and documents.
